Over the years, Glynis Sweeny has illustrated for Time, The Wall Street Journal, BusinessWeek, The Village Voice, The New York Times, Comedy Central, The Atlantic, Fortune, Rolling Stone, GQ, Entertainment Weekly, The Los Angeles Times, and The Boston Globe. She also illustrated the cover for the book, “The Hammer Comes Down,” a biography of former Congressman Tom DeLay.
Sweeny primarily works in various physical and digital media: wax-based color pencils, No. 2 pencils, graphics tablets, and Photoshop primarily. Her work has appeared in the Society of Illustrators, RSVP, American Illustration, and Communication Arts juried annuals and has won illustration awards from the Society of Illustrators, Society of Newspaper Design and the Society of Professional Journalists.
Sweeny was recently honored to have her 1992 illustration of Paul Simon to be selected as part of the Library of Congress exhibition Timely and Timeless, which celebrated American comic art, political and social satire, and caricature.
Sweeny currently lives in New York’s Lower Hudson Valley.
